LATATARA: An exercise of visual poetry

SUPPORT THE PROJECT

The New York Estonian House is pleased to announce the launch of an experimental art project created by Estonian-American artist Jaanika Peerna, Leevi Ernits, and curator Anneliis Beadnell, entitled Latatara. This exhibition will be created in correlation with the New York Estonian House’s Estonian Cultural Days, beginning on the 25th of March, and hopes to inspire artists to explore, or begin, a relationship with the Estonian language.

The Estonian language, as muse, hopes to inspire participating artists to explore different ways of interpreting our unusual language through their artistic practice. The interactive platform of Latatara functions as an open forum for all artists, Estonian and non-Estonian, to communicate with various techniques inspired by semantic semiotics, asemic writing and haptic poetry.  Through this project we hope to raise awareness to the importance of cultural celebration and preservation!

Submission for participation is free! A selection of art posted on Latatara will be exhibited at the New York Estonian House opening on March 27th.   If you have any questions or wish to receive more information on how to support Latatara please contact Anneliis Beadnell at Anneliis.Beadnell@gmail.com.

Latatara is founded partly by Estonian Foundation for Art and Letters.  Latatara’s website hosting is sponsored by early-adopter.com.
